To quote Pablo Picasso, “All children are artists, the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up.”  At St. Joseph Catholic School all of our students are artists.

We try very hard to tap into children’s innate love of color, shape, material manipulation, and their playful imaginations.  They are exposed to the works of the great masters and innovators of the world, materials are supplied, demonstrations are given, and then the wonderful and messy business of creativity begins.

We have studied the works of Delacroix, Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Picasso, Kandinsky, Claude Monet, and many more.  We have worked with Tempera, Acrylic, water color, oil pastel, clay, Ivory soap, Aluminum foil, blue tape, ink, colored pencils, crayons, markers and wallpaper to name a few.  We have dabbled in stamping, print making, portraiture, carving, building and textile design, Aboriginal art, mobiles, and murals a much more.

In St. Joseph Catholic School Art classes, cookie cutter art is banned (along with glitter!) so the imaginative and creative individual student artist may emerge.
